Patna, Feb 5 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, convened with Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday, presenting a Memorandum of Understanding concerning the purported surge in crime rates within the state.

During their discussion, Tejashwi urged the Governor to take immediate action to address the situation.

After the meeting, Tejashwi articulated his fears regarding the worsening law-and-order scenario.

He accused certain communities of being unjustly targeted both at the state and national levels.

Tejashwi specifically highlighted an incident involving a DSP-rank officer who was accused of mistreating a member of a minority community at the Benipatti police station in Madhubani.

This alleged occurrence transpired during a vehicle-checking operation a week prior.

According to Tejashwi, the state government has failed to take action against the implicated officer.

The RJD leader called for swift measures against the DSP to set a precedent within the Police Department.

He censured the state administration for its inaction, asserting that the absence of accountability was aggravating the rise in crime and the abuse of power by law enforcement personnel.

Governor Khan has yet to comment publicly on the memorandum submitted by Tejashwi.

Regarding the distribution of appointment letters in Bihar by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday, Tejashwi claimed that the foundation for these jobs was established during his 17-month government.

When questioned about the job appointments, Tejashwi stated: "We were in power for 17 months, there must be some benefit. The 3.50 lakh jobs currently in progress were approved by us. All necessary posts were created during our cabinet tenure. Let them take all the credit - we don’t care. What matters is that the citizens of Bihar secure employment."

Previously, Tejashwi consistently emphasized that his leadership resulted in over 5 lakh government jobs within 17 months, with an additional 3.5 lakh jobs underway prior to the Grand Alliance government’s collapse in January 2024.
