Transfer of West Bengal CID Head

Kolkata, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Chief of the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was transferred on Wednesday following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent announcement of a significant reshuffle in the Police Department.

According to an official statement, R Rajasekaran, the Additional Director General (I) of the CID, has been reassigned to serve as the Additional Director General (Training). However, the announcement regarding his successor is still pending.

The current Additional Director General (Training), Damayanti Sen, has been moved to the position of Additional Director General (Policy Making).

Meanwhile, R. Sivakumar, who held the role of Additional Director General (Policy Making), has been transferred to become the Additional Director General of the Enforcement Branch (EB).

In a similar vein, Rajeev Mishra, the incumbent Additional Director General (EB), will now serve as the Additional Director General (Organisation and Modernisation).

On November 21, the Chief Minister addressed the media, highlighting a forthcoming major reshuffle in the CID and ACB departments aimed at bolstering the fight against corruption within the state.

She acknowledged the presence of corruption among certain lower-level police personnel, which tarnishes the state’s reputation.

“Political leaders often face allegations of corruption. If any politician is involved in corrupt practices amounting to merely Rs 5, it is exaggerated to Rs 550. However, politicians are cautious about engaging in corrupt acts. It is some lower-level officers and staff within the police force who contribute to corruption, thereby harming the state’s image,” remarked the Chief Minister.
