He pointed out that the state police uncovered 11 percent more cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2025 compared to 2024.
During 2025, narcotic items, including ganja plants and saplings valued over Rs 1,636 crore, were destroyed, contrasting with Rs 849 crore worth of substances disposed of in 2024.

He also mentioned that cases lodged under the NDPS Act, 1985, increased by 11.06 percent, going from 470 cases in 2024 to 522 cases in 2025, indicative of improved enforcement.
When asked about the potential effects of the ongoing situation in Bangladesh on Tripura, the police chief reassured that the state remains secure despite any regional tensions.
He confirmed that Tripura Police are proactively addressing border-related issues in collaboration with the Border Security Force (BSF).
Tripura shares an 856-km international border with Bangladesh and is surrounded on three sides by the neighboring nation, which poses risks for smuggling and other cross-border offenses.
