New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) The president of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, Devender Yadav, intensified his campaign in the Badli constituency on Friday, vowing to alleviate the inhumane conditions caused by polluted drinking water, overflowing garbage, and hazardous air quality.
In the upcoming February 5 Assembly elections, Yadav faces off against Deepak Chaudhary from the BJP and Ajesh Yadav from the AAP in this northwest Delhi area.
During an election rally, the Delhi Congress president expressed his dedication to executing all the commitments outlined in the Congress manifesto for the Delhi Assembly elections, particularly the removal of the garbage mound at the Bhalswa landfill.
He pointed out that the Badli Assembly has seen no development over the past decade under AAP governance.
Yadav reaffirmed that Congress would honor its five key promises, as pledged by the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
These promises encompass a monthly aid of Rs 2,500 for women under the Pyari Didi Yojna, a Rs 25 lakh lifelong health insurance scheme, a monthly stipend of Rs 8,500 for educated unemployed youth participating in skill development through apprenticeships in private firms, Rs 500 for LPG cylinders, and a free ration kit along with 300 units of free electricity for each household.
Additionally, he pledged to extend the benefits of the Congress manifesto to residents of Uttaranchal, minorities, Jains, Punjabis, and all communities residing in Badli.
On Friday, Yadav conducted public meetings across Mesarwali Colony, near the Masjid, Valmiki Mohalla, and Harijan Colony (Bhalswa). He also organized padayatras in various locations including ITI JJ clusters, K2 Block, Jahangirpuri, E Block, Yadav Nagar, Landi Wali Gali, Shivpuri, and Teacher Colony.
Yadav remarked that he had previously contributed significantly to the development of Badli when he served as the MLA and continued to support the area even after his term.
He criticized the Kejriwal government for completely overlooking Badli, stating that their failure to fulfill the promise of clearing the landfill at Bhalswa poses a serious threat to local residents.
Yadav recalled that Chief Minister Kejriwal, during a visit to the Bhalswa landfill on March 17, 2023, alongside then-Mayor Shelly Oberoi, claimed that the garbage heaps would be cleared by March 2024. However, two years post-MCD elections, the landfill has only expanded.
Yadav emphasized that the Congress manifesto includes precise strategies to address the garbage crisis.
