Kolkata, April 20 (NationPress) - On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to dismantling the reign of hooligans in West Bengal if it secures power in the upcoming Assembly elections. He stated, “The state government had ample opportunity for development. Once, investors were eager to invest in West Bengal, but the actions of hooligans have caused significant damage. The BJP will decisively put an end to this rule. Corruption has flourished in West Bengal under the Trinamool Congress for the last 15 years,” while addressing a campaign rally in Sainthia, located in the Birbhum district.
Singh also warned that serious repercussions await the hooligans if the BJP is elected. “The citizens must choose between continuing this era of fear and violence or seeking liberation from it. Should the BJP gain power, the hooligans will either flee or face imprisonment,” he added.
The Union Minister further mentioned that the women of West Bengal would retaliate against the Trinamool Congress for their collaboration with other parties to obstruct the Women’s Reservation (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha. “Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is dedicated to ensuring women receive representation in the Lok Sabha and Assemblies, and this will be realized in time. The opposition, including the Trinamool Congress, Congress, Samajwadi Party, and DMK, have resisted this initiative. In this election, women will teach the Trinamool Congress a valuable lesson,” Singh remarked.
He concluded by emphasizing that his campaign activities in West Bengal revealed a strong desire among the populace for a BJP-led government. “We aim to establish a government with a decisive majority. Over the past 15 years, an atmosphere of intimidation and anxiety has pervaded West Bengal. The people have granted the Trinamool government 15 years—a sufficient period for developmental progress. In contrast, other states have achieved remarkable advancements in the last 5 to 8 years. Once, West Bengal contributed 10 percent to the national economy; that figure has now dwindled to below 5 percent. A transformation is urgently required,” Singh stated.
