Muslim Clerics Warn of Global Impact Amid US-Iran Tensions
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lucknow, April 12 (NationPress) Renowned Muslim clerics, Maulana Yasoob Abbas and Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, have expressed profound concern regarding the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, cautioning that the unfolding scenario could lead to significant global repercussions.
Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, who serves as the President of the Islamic Centre of India, voiced his disappointment over the unsuccessful negotiations between the United States and Iran that took place in Islamabad. He noted that the collapse of these discussions has fostered a sense of anxiety and dissatisfaction worldwide.
Commenting on the recent remarks made by the US President, Firangi Mahali labeled America’s assertion of having “won the war” as unfounded. He pointed out that many NATO allies refrained from supporting the United States, viewing the conflict as contrary to international law and unjustly directed at Iran. He warned that such actions jeopardize global standards and stability.
He further cautioned against the United States issuing threats to other world powers, including China. “Such unilateral and illegal actions constitute a grave threat to the international order. The US must show restraint and refrain from further escalating tensions,” he conveyed to IANS.
In a parallel vein, All India Shia Personal Law Board General Secretary, Maulana Yasoob Abbas, described the current geopolitical situation as “profoundly serious,” suggesting that conditions reminiscent of a potential World War III are beginning to take shape. He accused the United States of attempting to disrupt the global equilibrium and now openly endangering China as well.
“If such actions persist, there is a significant likelihood of retaliation from China, which could exacerbate tensions,” Abbas warned.
He also raised doubts regarding the intent and results of the US-Iran negotiations, asserting that the discussions faltered due to inflexible stances from both parties.
According to him, the United States demanded terms that primarily benefited itself, while Iran stood firm on its conditions, leaving little room for a compromise.
“In such a circumstance, it was unavoidable that no agreement could be reached,” he added.
Both clerics underscored the pressing necessity for dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law to avert further deterioration of the situation.
