The event transpired in the vicinity of the Udyog Nagar police station, located along the Delhi-Mumbai railway line. The victim has been named as Sartaj Singh (18), hailing from Himayun Kheda village in Sirsa district of Haryana. For the past two years, he had been residing in Kota for his engineering entrance exam preparations.
According to law enforcement, the tragedy unfolded around 8:30 PM on a Sunday. The remains were subsequently transferred to the post-mortem facility at MBS Hospital.
Officer Jitendra Singh from Udyog Nagar police station indicated that Sartaj was living in a hostel situated in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kota, and was a Class 12 student, with board exams set for April.
His two-year JEE coaching program had recently wrapped up. Family sources notified the police that Sartaj was expected to return to Haryana on the evening of January 25, with his train planned for that night.
In his final conversation with his family, Sartaj allegedly mentioned that the train was delayed by three hours and that he intended to head to the railway station for updates.
However, family members later contended that the train was not delayed, suggesting Sartaj used this as a pretext to leave the hostel.
On the following Monday, Sartaj’s family arrived in Kota. The post-mortem was performed in their presence, after which the body was returned to them.
Sartaj’s father, Kuldeep Singh, works as a farmer in Sirsa district. Sartaj was the only child in the family.
Authorities stated that they are thoroughly investigating all angles of the case to determine the circumstances surrounding the student's death.
No suicide note has been found to date.
