New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) BJP candidate from the New Delhi Assembly constituency Parvesh Verma has criticized AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for attempting to stir controversy regarding the restrictions placed on the screening of the documentary film 'Unbreakable', which illustrates his party leader's time in jail.

In a statement to the media, Verma emphasized that if it is indeed a private film, then Kejriwal's grievances about its illegal screening are misplaced. "This isn't merely a private film; it is intrinsically tied to the interests of AAP," he stated.

Earlier, Kejriwal condemned the Delhi Police and the BJP for allegedly obstructing a documentary screening aimed at journalists, which explored the supposed conspiracy resulting in the detention of AAP leaders in the excise policy case.

The police clarified their actions, stating they adhered to regulations and halted the screening of the film 'Unbreakable' at an auditorium in ITO, Central Delhi, due to the absence of permission from the election office, given that the Model Code of Conduct is currently in effect.

Kejriwal asserted that the film is not political and claimed there were no political symbols present at the venue, yet the screening was prohibited.

Verma accused Kejriwal of being a chronic liar, mentioning, "He has repeatedly lodged complaints with the Election Commission against me over the job fair and financial assistance initiatives I undertook prior to the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct."

In the meantime, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal for fabricating a story about an assault on him at Lal Bahadur Sadan in the New Delhi Assembly constituency.

Sachdeva commented that the BJP has consistently warned since September 2024 that as elections approach, Kejriwal tends to concoct tales of attacks to elicit public sympathy.

"It is regrettable that at Lal Bahadur Sadan in the New Delhi Assembly, Kejriwal spread falsehoods about being pelted with stones to evade inquiries from local residents," he mentioned.

In contrast, Kejriwal's car accidentally injured two residents as he attempted to hastily leave to escape their pressing questions.

The Delhi BJP President noted the irony in Kejriwal's defensive stance on his actions, stating he is unwilling to address questions from the public during events or from the BJP during press conferences.

He added that even the Delhi Police confirmed that no attack on Kejriwal occurred, as it was merely a situation of shouting slogans from both sides during his meeting.
