Mahakumbh 2025: Six Fireboats to Enhance Pilgrim Safety

Prayagraj, Dec 9 (NationPress) The groundwork for Mahakumbh 2025 is progressing rapidly. The Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Department has initiated a groundbreaking plan to utilize fireboats, ensuring that the pilgrimage is safe and secure for all devotees.
The fireboats will be strategically located along the Ganga ghats, close to the fair zone, to maintain a fire accident-free environment during the Mahakumbh.
These fireboats are designed for quick response, playing a critical role in preventing fire incidents along the riverfront.
A total budget of Rs 131.48 crore has been allocated for the development of fireboats and related equipment, with Rs 66.75 crore funded by the Fire department and Rs 64.73 crore from the departmental budget.
Chief Fire Officer and Mahakumbh Nodal Officer Pramod Sharma disclosed that the six state-of-the-art fireboats will be deployed at the Sangam and other ghats by the end of December.
"Fireboats are celebrated for their rapid response and efficiency in navigating rivers, ensuring swift fire control. They are particularly effective in fire prevention and rescue missions along riverfront ghats," he elaborated.
"A key feature of these fireboats is the addition of remote-controlled firefighting robots, which can access areas beyond the reach of water cannons and carry out fire suppression tasks with accuracy," he noted.
He emphasized that these boats are essential in extreme temperature conditions or when dealing with hazardous materials. They not only safeguard lives and property but also serve as protective barriers for firefighters during rescue operations.
Deputy Director Aman Sharma mentioned that in alignment with CM Yogi's vision, Mahakumbh 2025 will have comprehensive fire safety measures, which include the deployment of over 351 specialized fire-fighting vehicles, more than 2,000 trained personnel, and the establishment of over 50 fire stations and 20 fire posts throughout the fairgrounds.
