Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 9 (NationPress) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed on Monday that a new approach to recruitment is on the horizon, aiming to fill over 70,000 positions in a phased manner. This recruitment initiative will encompass approximately 50,000 roles through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and an additional 20,000 roles that fall outside the MPSC's jurisdiction.
During today's meeting with various administrative departments, he instructed them to base recruitment decisions on essential skills, service entry guidelines, eligibility criteria, and the specific nature of the work involved.
The CM stressed that significant administrative reforms, effective human resource management, and transparency in the recruitment process are of utmost importance.
A formal resolution concerning the modifications to the State Government Service Entry Rules will be addressed in an upcoming Cabinet meeting. The recruitment of these 70,000 positions is anticipated to greatly enhance the operational efficiency of multiple government departments, according to the government release.
CM Fadnavis highlighted that the Human Resource Management Model presented by the Maharashtra Government during the Chief Ministers' Council meeting—which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi—received notable acclaim. The Prime Minister encouraged other states to adopt this reform model, solidifying Maharashtra's role as a pioneer in administrative reforms.
To address delays, bureaucracy, and lengthy queues, the Chief Minister mandated the creation of an Online and Digital Verification Model. He remarked, “If online verification is feasible for sensitive documents like passports, it can certainly be applied here.”
In an effort to promote technological advancement, departments are urged to integrate Blockchain technology. Certificates should be accessible through the DigiLocker system, aiming to establish a framework that is clean, fast, and reliable, ensuring that no doubts, biases, or injustices arise against the youth, as per the government release.
The Chief Minister announced plans to introduce a new model of Governance Reform in Maharashtra within the next year and called on all departments to work together to achieve these administrative enhancements.
Previously, the CM assessed the results of a 150-day intensive program designed to overhaul office administration. He issued a strong directive to eliminate the “waiting period” for successful candidates. Departments are required to issue appointment letters to candidates within four working days once exam results are announced. All departments must complete 75 percent of outstanding promotions by January's end to uplift employee morale and address leadership voids, he emphasized.
To improve citizen-centric governance, the CM ordered the launch of the Aaple Sarkar 2.0 portal, which aims to offer all government services online without delays while strengthening local Setu and Aaple Sarkar centers to ensure last-mile reform delivery.
