Patna, Aug 2 (NationPress) Former Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has launched a fierce critique against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing both politicians of spreading falsehoods for their own political gain.
During a press conference in Patna on Saturday, Prasad charged Gandhi with tarnishing the reputation of the late Union Minister Arun Jaitley through unfounded accusations.
“Rahul Gandhi is evolving into the foremost advocate of lies. He asserted that Arun Jaitley had threatened him during the farmers' protests. However, the reality is that Arun Jaitley passed away a year before the farm laws were even enacted. How can Rahul Gandhi shamelessly lie about a distinguished leader who is no longer with us?” Prasad remarked.
He underscored Jaitley’s noble character, stating, “Even his political rivals showed him respect. He never threatened anyone - he engaged his opponents with a smile.”
In a further jab at Gandhi, Prasad alluded to the Congress leader’s previous controversial remarks.
“He once claimed to possess an atom bomb that could dismantle the Election Commission. He also suggested that the young Prime Minister would assault him with sticks. Making such threatening and provocative statements seems to be his norm,” Prasad noted.
Shifting his focus to Tejashwi Yadav, who alleged that his name had been removed from the updated voter list, Prasad stated, “Tejashwi Yadav is now mimicking Rahul Gandhi. He, too, is propagating falsehoods,” referencing the Election Commission’s swift clarification that Tejashwi’s name was indeed included—currently at Serial No. 416 in Booth No. 204, Patna.
“I would like to question Tejashwi Yadav - is this your new political tactic? To fabricate claims and mislead the public, just like Rahul Gandhi? The Election Commission has debunked Tejashwi's lie,” Prasad added.
These remarks from Ravi Shankar Prasad come amid escalating tensions in Bihar politics, following the voter list update under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
The Election Commission's rebuttal of Tejashwi's assertions and the BJP’s assertive counter-narrative seem to be a united effort to challenge the opposition on the grounds of credibility and integrity.
