New Delhi, July 12 (NationPress) The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), located in New Delhi, is preparing to host a three-day national seminar aimed at investigating the latest trends in Ayurvedic surgical practices, as announced by the Ministry of Ayush on Saturday.
Entitled Shalyacon 2025, this event will take place from July 13-15 and coincides with the significant celebration of Sushruta Jayanti. Each year, this day, held on July 15, honors the legendary Acharya Sushruta, who is celebrated as the Father of Surgery.
“Since its inception, AIIA has committed itself to advancing Ayurveda worldwide. Shalyacon, organized by the Department of Shalya Tantra, exemplifies this dedication by promoting the merger of Ayurvedic principles with contemporary surgical innovations. This initiative is designed to empower budding Ayurvedic surgeons with improved skills and confidence in providing integrated surgical care,” stated Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Director (I/C) of AIIA.
Centered around the themes of innovation, integration, and inspiration, Shalyacon 2025 is being conducted in partnership with the National Sushruta Association as part of the ongoing academic series for the 25th Annual Conference of the National Sushruta Association.
The seminar will showcase live surgical demonstrations, including general endoscopic surgeries, anorectal surgeries, and urosurgical cases.
“On the inaugural day, 10 general endoscopic laparoscopic surgeries will be demonstrated. The second day will feature 16 live surgical procedures focusing on anorectal surgery, providing participants a chance to observe and learn from real-time surgical practices,” mentioned the Ministry.
Shalyacon 2025 promises to be a vibrant blend of tradition and technology, attracting over 500 distinguished scholars, surgeons, researchers, and academicians from both India and abroad. The event aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas, highlight clinical advancements, and delve into emerging trends in Ayurvedic surgical practices.
A special plenary session will occur over the three days, addressing topics such as general and laparoscopic surgery, wound management and para-surgical techniques, anorectal surgery, asthi-sandhi marma chikitsa, and surgical innovations.
The concluding day will also include more than 200 oral and poster presentations, contributing to the continuous academic discourse and enrichment.
Alongside the clinical demonstrations, a Scientific Session will offer a platform for scholars, clinicians, and researchers to present their findings and engage in academic discussions, as highlighted by the Ministry.
