Children and Professionals from 65 Nations Join Global AI Contest in Russia

Moscow, Dec 16 (NationPress) Young children and professionals from 65 nations, including India, have participated in AIChallenge, an international AI competition for youth organized by Sberbank and AI Alliance Russia.
India ranked second in terms of registered participants at the AI Challenge. Participants from other BRICS nations include Ethiopia, Egypt, and South Africa.
The young contestants tackled technological business cases across 16 domains, including metallurgy, agriculture, investment, creative industries, and much more.
Participants competed across three categories of varying difficulty. Everyone, regardless of their expertise and skills, had the opportunity to showcase their talents by addressing business challenges using AI solutions.
The winners of the AI Challenge hailed from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Canada. The youngest winner, Oleg Zamkov from Moscow, is just 10 years old.
"The AI Challenge contest is designed to assist children in enhancing their AI skills and making their first contributions to technology for the betterment of humanity. Together with AI Alliance Russia and leading Russian universities, we are creating new avenues for training talented young professionals in Russia," stated Alexander Vedyakhin, first deputy chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank.
The winners expressed that it was both enjoyable and challenging to work on technological business cases. Through the AI Challenge, participants have gained confidence in their abilities, enhanced their AI and teamwork skills, and are now prepared for even greater challenges ahead.
"I am a technology enthusiast, and I found the contest’s themes captivating. Competing with others was a delightful experience. I learned how AI functions and applied that knowledge in the contest tasks," said Oleg Zamkov, who secured second place in the Beginners track.
"It was tough yet enjoyable. The competition helped me refine my skills in workplace interactions and team management, along with my AI and programming abilities. I believe that AI will become an invaluable tool in every aspect of our lives. It is already being integrated into many processes globally, and understanding its function is crucial," remarked another contestant, Ivan Fenster, from Team 42 in the Researchers track.
Approximately 18 teams from the Researchers track and 26 participants from the Beginners and Creators individual tracks were recognized as the best and shared a prize pool of 17 million roubles.
The winners of the Researchers track, in addition to the cash award, will have the chance to participate in a unique educational program offered by AI Alliance Russia and Central University.
AI Challenge winners will also benefit from several advantages, including scholarships from top Russian universities that are academic partners of the competition: Inopolis University, Central University, and ITMO University.
