Kuwait City, March 15 (NationPress) India's unwavering dedication to safeguarding its citizens caught in conflict zones and crises around the globe has solidified its status as one of the most 'proactive and responsive' countries in ensuring the safety of its people abroad, as highlighted in a recent report.

These endeavors have been executed through 'swift, well-coordinated, and large-scale evacuation missions' in recent years.

A report from Times Kuwait indicates that in addition to rescuing its own nationals, India has also facilitated the evacuation of foreign citizens during emergencies, garnering international acclaim for its humanitarian approach and spirit of global solidarity.

Through rapid diplomatic efforts, seamless collaboration between government agencies, and effective military logistics, thousands of Indians have been safely repatriated from perilous situations. Key evacuation operations such as Operation Raahat, Operation Sankat Mochan, Operation Ganga, and Operation Kaveri have enabled thousands to escape from conflict-affected areas and return home securely, as detailed in the report.

The report noted that the Indian government closely tracked developments amid the rising tensions between the United States and Iran, intensifying evacuation measures through all available channels. Indian authorities also implemented steps to maintain stable and affordable airfares for citizens opting to return.

'The safety and well-being of Indian nationals abroad remains our highest priority. We cannot overlook developments that might endanger them,' the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated.

Many returning passengers expressed their gratitude to the Indian government for its prompt intervention.

Families at airports throughout the nation welcomed their loved ones returning from the conflict-stricken Gulf region, praising Indian authorities for their rapid actions.

During the Iran-Israel tensions in mid-2025, India successfully evacuated its nationals from conflict zones by relocating them to neighboring countries before airlifting them home.

The operation, dubbed Operation Sindhu, involved transporting evacuees through Armenia before flying them back to India on special flights. Many of those rescued described the experience as smooth and well-organized, with temporary accommodations provided in comfortable settings while travel arrangements were finalized.

Sehrish Rafique, a resident of Kashmir, expressed her surprise at the assistance from the Indian Embassy. 'Initially, I couldn't believe the embassy would exert so much effort for us. All Kashmiris are truly grateful to the Indian government,' Times Kuwait quoted Rafique.

Another evacuee, Mir Mohammad Musharraf from Pulwama, praised the operation as extremely beneficial and appreciated the embassy for prioritizing their safety.

Similarly, during the Russia–Ukraine conflict, India initiated Operation Ganga, successfully evacuating over 23,000 citizens alongside 147 foreign nationals from 18 countries. Evacuees were initially taken to neighboring nations, including Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova, before being flown back to India on dedicated civilian and military flights, as noted in the report.
