Israeli Forces Acknowledge Bombardment of Over 100 Locations in Gaza This Weekend

Jerusalem, Jan 6 (NationPress) Israeli warplanes and drones conducted bombardments on over 100 locations throughout the Gaza Strip during the weekend, as reported by the Israeli military. Palestinian health authorities indicated that these strikes resulted in nearly 200 fatalities.
The military's statement on Sunday noted that the airstrikes were aimed at militant objectives, including alleged launch sites used to fire three rockets towards Israel on Friday, as per the Xinhua news agency.
The Israeli Defense Forces and Shin Bet reported that the strikes killed numerous Hamas fighters.
The Gaza Media Office, which is operated by Hamas, stated on Saturday evening that at least 184 individuals lost their lives during approximately 92 airstrikes and shelling incidents over the weekend.
Earlier on Saturday, the Gaza media office claimed that the Israeli military executed 94 airstrikes and shelling operations in the Gaza Strip within the last 72 hours, resulting in 184 deaths.
The office described the escalation as dangerous and brutal, asserting that it targeted unarmed civilians and residential districts, especially in Gaza City.
It further reported that many of the victims, whether deceased or wounded, remained trapped beneath debris, with damaged infrastructure hindering their recovery and access to medical facilities.
Officials from the Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza confirmed that Israeli airstrikes had escalated significantly over the past three days, a period that local residents characterized as extraordinarily challenging.
The statement held the Israeli military entirely accountable for these horrific crimes and criticized the US administration for supplying Israel with military aid and political backing.
It urged the international community and the UN Security Council to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by sending independent investigative teams to document these heinous crimes and ensure accountability for those responsible.
