Yemen's Capital Hospitals on High Alert Due to Possible Israeli Strikes: Houthi Officials

Aden, Dec 26 (NationPress) Hospitals in Yemen's capital Sanaa are now on high alert due to the possibility of Israeli attacks, as stated by the Houthi group.

The health ministry of the Houthi-led government, which lacks international recognition, has circulated a directive mandating all public hospitals to enhance readiness levels in various departments, blood banks, and ensure that all ambulance services are prepared for any potential emergencies, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

"The current exceptional circumstances faced by the nation due to the brutal Israeli aggression necessitate increased preparedness," the statement read.

Earlier in the day, the Houthis claimed they had launched a long-range ballistic missile aimed at a military site in Tel Aviv.

"Our military operations against Israel will persist until the aggression on Gaza ceases and the blockade is lifted," stated Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea during a broadcast on Houthi-controlled al-Masirah TV.

On Wednesday morning, Israeli media reported that sirens were activated after a missile launched from Yemen approached Tel Aviv.

Later, the Houthi group announced the launch of two drones aimed at the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon, targeting "vital" and "industrial" sectors.

"We executed two military operations; the first targeted a vital and sensitive area in Tel Aviv, while the second focused on the industrial area in Ashkelon," Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea mentioned in a statement on al-Masirah TV.

"Both operations were carried out with drones and successfully met their objectives," he added, asserting that their actions against Israel "will not cease until the aggression on Gaza is halted and the blockade is lifted."

No response has been received from the Israeli side yet.

The Houthi group also took responsibility for a hypersonic ballistic missile strike on Tel Aviv, which the Israeli military claimed to have intercepted.

In recent months, the Houthi group has intensified its attacks on Israel following announcements from Israeli officials regarding plans for a significant offensive.

Since October 2023, the Houthis have intermittently targeted Israel in support of the Palestinians in Gaza. In response, Israel has conducted numerous large-scale airstrikes on Yemen.
