Itanagar, May 20 (NationPress) Arunachal Pradesh has achieved a remarkable milestone with its highest-ever monthly Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in April this year, mirroring the national trend of unprecedented GST revenues.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his delight in a post on his X handle, stating: “In a landmark achievement, Arunachal recorded its highest-ever monthly GST collection in April 2025 – an astounding Rs 332 crores, representing a 66 percent increase compared to last year! Since the introduction of GST in 2017, the taxpayer base in Arunachal has expanded significantly, now exceeding 20,000 registered taxpayers.”
As per an official announcement, the all-India GST collection also hit a record high of Rs 2.36 lakh crores in April 2025, reflecting a 12.6 percent year-over-year growth.
Since GST was implemented in July 2017, the number of registered taxpayers in Arunachal Pradesh has seen exponential growth, reaching approximately 20,000 taxpayers, as noted in the statement.
To further enhance tax collection, the Central GST Itanagar Commissionerate organized a cyclothon (cycle rally) on May 18 under the theme 'Sunday on Cycles'.
The event's purpose was to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle while raising awareness about GST as it nears its eighth anniversary.
Despite rainy weather, a considerable number of enthusiastic participants gathered at the Bank Tinali area in Itanagar, where the rally commenced. The cycle rally concluded at Indira Gandhi Park.

Gross GST collections for April totaled 2.36 lakh crore rupees, marking a 12.6 percent increase over the gross collection of 2.10 lakh crore rupees in April 2024.
Net GST collections for April 2025 reached 2.09 lakh crore rupees, indicating a 9.1 percent growth compared to the net collection of 1.92 lakh crore rupees in April 2024.
