Assam CM Requests Support from EAM Jaishankar for Investor Summit

New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in the national capital on Monday, seeking his assistance and collaboration to ensure the success of the forthcoming Assam Infrastructure and Investment Summit, according to officials.

During their meeting at Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, Chief Minister Sarma formally invited Jaishankar to attend the summit.

In a post on his X handle, Chief Minister Sarma stated, “I had the pleasure to call upon Hon'ble Union External Affairs Minister Shri @DrSJaishankar ji today in New Delhi and extend an invitation to attend the Assam Infrastructure and Investment Summit 2025.”

“I also sought all possible cooperation from @MEAIndia to make the Summit a grand success,” he added.

The Assam Infrastructure and Investment Summit is scheduled to take place in Guwahati on February 24 and 25 of next year.

Additionally, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and invited him to grace the investor summit.

Sarma shared on X: “Today in New Delhi, I had the privilege to receive Adarniya Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji’s guidance on various developmental issues. On behalf of the people of Assam, I also had the pleasure to invite him to bless the Assam Investor & Infrastructure Summit and Mega Jhumur Performance in February 2025, which he has kindly accepted to grace.”

Importantly, “Advantage Assam 2.0,” the Investment and Infrastructure Summit, aims to present Assam’s vibrant cultural heritage to a global audience.

According to Chief Minister Sarma, the event will feature the traditional Jhumur dance of the tea tribe clans.

Sarma stated, “This summit provides a platform to showcase Assam's rich traditions while attracting potential investors.”

A stunning Jhumur dance performance involving over 7,500 dancers and artists is planned for the event, with 32 female and 32 male dancers representing each of Assam's 800+ tea gardens, the Chief Minister noted.

He added that preparations for this cultural showcase are currently underway.

The Chief Minister emphasized, “Perfect execution will be ensured through master training workshops, constituency-level sessions, district-level performances, and final rehearsals in Guwahati.”

The performance, anticipated to occur on one of the summit days, is expected to leave a lasting impression on attendees.

This initiative follows Assam's achievement of a Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance.

The objective of Advantage Assam 2.0, the second edition of the international investor summit since its inception in 2018, is to promote infrastructure development and investment in the state.

The two-day event is expected to attract investors from across India and around the globe, reinforcing Assam’s position as a burgeoning investment hub in the country.
