Kolkata, Jan 2 (NationPress) Tension is high in Sudampur, located within the Moyna Assembly constituency of East Midnapore district in West Bengal, after the body of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was discovered in a pond five days following his disappearance.
The deceased has been identified as Subrata Adhikari, aged 33.
His family suspects foul play, alleging that this incident is a political murder orchestrated by local goons affiliated with the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Kajal Devi, the mother of the victim, stated that her son left home on the evening of December 28 to participate in a puja ceremony in the vicinity.
"However, he has been missing since that evening, and his body was ultimately found in a nearby pond. I am convinced that my son was murdered, and I urge the police to thoroughly investigate this case," she expressed.
Supporting her claims, local BJP leader Sujit Bera remarked that the deceased was a dedicated member of the party in Moyna.
"Our concerns regarding his murder emerged from the condition of the body discovered floating in the pond this morning. If the body had been submerged for five days, it would not have appeared in such a state. It appears he was murdered elsewhere and his body disposed of in the pond to mislead the public and authorities," Bera stated.
