Kolkata, March 24 (NationPress) A division bench of the Calcutta High Court has extended the interim bail for Sujay Krishna Bhadra, a key suspect in the cash-for-school job scandal in West Bengal, until April 22.

Bhadra sought this extension on March 21 from the bench headed by Justice Arjit Banerjee and Justice Apurba Sinha Roy, as his current bail was due to expire on March 31. The bench had previously granted him interim bail in February on medical grounds.

During the hearing on Monday, the bench decided to prolong his bail until April 22. The next hearing is scheduled for April 21, when it will be determined whether the bail can be extended further.

Additionally, the bench instructed the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to monitor Bhadra's residence and arrange temporary accommodations with adequate seating and cooling facilities. This directive followed complaints from Bhadra's lawyer regarding CAPF personnel occupying areas of Bhadra's home and misusing amenities.

In response, the CBI's counsel argued that monitoring Bhadra required the personnel to be close to him. Subsequently, the bench ordered the establishment of temporary shelters for the CAPF outside Bhadra’s home. It was also stated that Bhadra's doctors, family members, and bank staff should have unrestricted access to him.
