Enhanced Security Measures Implemented in Kolkata for Christmas

Kolkata, Dec 25 (NationPress) Comprehensive security measures have been established in Kolkata to prevent any undesirable incidents during Christmas celebrations on Wednesday.
Starting from Tuesday night, 1,000 police officers have been stationed across the city, with the Kolkata Police planning to increase this number to over 2,000.
According to sources within the city police, the entire security operation will be overseen by eight Deputy Commissioner ranked officers, who will be visible on the streets alongside their teams throughout the day.
Supporting them will be 30 Assistant Commissioners, 27 Inspectors, and 250 Sub-Inspectors.
A total of 11 watchtowers have been set up at various locations within the city, allowing police to monitor crowds in different areas. Additionally, three quick response teams (QRTs) will be on standby throughout the day to address any emergencies.
Moreover, there will be 40 police assistance booths distributed across the city. Heavy-duty radio flying squads (HDFS) have also been dispatched to enhance security measures for the occasion.
According to a senior police official, an adequate number of female police officers, undercover detectives, and a combat unit will be present. Special surveillance and protective measures have been implemented around significant churches in the city. Checkpoints will be established at various city entry points.
In addition to police forces, the state Disaster Management Department has prepared its teams for any emergencies. Trauma-care ambulances will be stationed at various locations, and life-saving disaster management units will be deployed at river points around the city.
The personnel of the River Traffic Police will conduct regular patrols on the waterways using speedboats.
