Gurugram, March 29 (NationPress) A specialized team from the Gurugram Police has apprehended five suspects for their alleged involvement in stealing jewelry from a woman through a deceptive conversation, according to police reports released on Saturday.

The individuals have been named as Hussain Khan, Sanjay Khan alias Atal, Hijarat Khan, Kuldeep alias Mohammad Qadir, and Bagawat Ali alias Bhaggu, all of whom reside in a slum area in Sector-12, Gurugram, as per police statements.

According to the authorities, the Crime Branch in Palam Vihar, Gurugram, executed the operation and arrested the five suspects on Friday near a petrol station in Sector-12, Gurugram.

The apprehended individuals disclosed that they had engaged the victim in conversation and subsequently fled with her jewelry.

The victim reported to the police that on March 26, while walking from Sector-23A towards Dharm Colony, she was approached by several individuals who inquired about the location of a temple. She responded that she was unaware of its whereabouts.

Subsequently, the suspects ignited a piece of paper in front of her and, while distracting her with conversation, snatched her earrings before escaping the scene.

Following her complaint, a case was filed under the relevant legal provisions at the Police Station in Palam Vihar, Gurugram.

Upon reviewing the suspects' criminal history, it was discovered that Hijarat had two prior cases registered against him in Uttar Pradesh related to theft and assault.

The police reported that the suspects have confessed to the crime and have shared details of their modus operandi, also admitting to several other criminal activities.

“The suspects will be presented in court and taken into police custody for further questioning and recovery efforts. The investigation is ongoing,” stated Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram Police.

The Gurugram Police have urged residents, particularly seniors, to remain vigilant.
