Shimla, Jan 17 (NationPress) Intensifying his criticism of the Congress party, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Friday accused them of neglecting the legacy of B. R. Ambedkar while consistently attributing achievements to a single family.
"In pursuit of their political agenda, the Congress and their 'toolkit gang' are intent on dividing society by misrepresenting the statements of senior BJP leaders," Jitendra Singh remarked during a press briefing in the capital of Himachal Pradesh.
He further stated, "Frustrated by electoral defeats, Congress leaders resorted to making the temple of democracy a hub for their conspiracies, a reprehensible act led by Rahul Gandhi and others. Baba Saheb contributed immensely to crafting an inclusive Constitution, ensuring justice for the backward classes, Dalits, tribals, and the marginalized, thereby fortifying the foundation of our democracy," he emphasized.
During the state-level 'Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan' marking 75 years of the Indian Constitution, Jitendra Singh, accompanied by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and state party President Rajiv Bindal, stated: "Every BJP member honors the concepts and values of Baba Saheb."
State chief Bindal noted that while Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was instrumental in drafting the Constitution, the Congress has amended it over 100 times.
"The Congress party, which has continuously violated the Constitution to cling to power, is now trying to garner votes by referencing it," Bindal remarked.
He pointed out that since India's independence in 1947, the government has been manipulating the Constitution along caste and religious lines, even altering its preamble, solely driven by electoral ambitions.
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Thakur stated: "If anyone championed the cause of Dalits, it was Ambedkar-ji, while the then Congress government favored Muslims, sidelining Dalits."
"It was regrettable that Nehru did not demonstrate allegiance to Hindus at that time," he added.
"Bhimrao Ambedkar-ji opposed this situation, and there are numerous instances where he resisted the policies of Congress. Although Ambedkar-ji crafted the Constitution, the Congress has consistently disrespected both him and the Constitution," Thakur concluded.
