Rajya Sabha to Persist with Constitution Dialogue Today, CAG Reports Scheduled for Presentation

New Delhi, Dec 17 (IANJS) The dialogue on the 75 years of the Constitution will persist in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
The agenda for the Upper House also includes other activities, such as the presentation of reports, including the Union Government Appropriation Accounts (Civil) 2023-2024, and the Union Government Finance Accounts for the year 2023-2024.
Multiple reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) will be introduced by Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary. These will cover topics such as Ordnance Factories, and the Department of Revenue – Direct Taxes, along with a Performance Audit on the training of pilots in the Indian Air Force.
The Upper House will also further explore the 'Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India', which was initiated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday.
The Finance Minister launched a comprehensive critique of the Congress party, accusing it of consistently attempting to undermine the Constitution via amendments. She claimed that the Congress party made significant amendments to the Constitution to blatantly favor the 'family' and the 'dynasty'.
In reply, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge asserted that the BJP has never honored the Constitution and emphasized the threats facing it under the current administration.
The Parliament engaged in a two-day discussion on December 13 and 14 about the Constitution, concentrating on its historical value and influence in shaping the nation’s governance and international reputation.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who initiated the discussion, addressed the politicization of the Constitution’s legacy and condemned the Congress party’s attempts to credit the establishment of India’s Constitution solely to one political faction. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, during her inaugural speech in the Lower House, remarked that the BJP would have altered the Constitution if it were not for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The pinnacle of the two-day debate in the Lower House was Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address. He stated that the Constitutional amendments enacted by his administration were not aimed at consolidating power, in contrast to the Congress party's actions. He remarked that the Nehru-Gandhi family had a tendency to modify the Constitution to suit their needs, starting with the nation’s first PM, Jawaharlal Nehru.
PM Modi also proposed 11 resolutions for the country's future. He expressed, "Inspired by the inherent spirit of the Constitution, I wish to present 11 resolutions to the Parliament for the nation's future."
