Rapper Badshah Penalized ₹15,500 for Breaching Traffic Regulations in Gurugram

Gurugram, Dec 17 (NationPress) Rapper Badshah has been penalized ₹15,500 for navigating in the incorrect lane in Gurugram, thereby breaching traffic regulations.

Reports indicate that Badshah's convoy, consisting of three vehicles, was operating on the wrong side of the road, contravening traffic laws.

The rapper, who was behind the wheel of a Mahindra Thar to attend Punjabi singer Karan Aujla's concert on December 15, received the fine from the Gurugram Traffic Police.

Interestingly, it has been noted that the vehicle in question was not registered to the rapper but belonged to an individual from Panipat.

Following the viral social media post regarding Badshah's traffic violation, the Gurugram Traffic Police issued a challan.

One user on 'X' platform commented, "Three vehicles of Punjabi singer Karan Aujla's entourage are traveling on the incorrect side towards Airia Mall, and the bouncers are also behaving inappropriately with the public, yet Gurugram police seem unresponsive."

In response, the Gurugram police stated, "A challan was generated on 16.12.2024 for driving on the wrong side as per the MV Act."

"A fine of ₹15,500 has been levied against one vehicle, and efforts are underway to identify the remaining two vehicles in the convoy. Additional fines under the MV (Motor Vehicles) Act 2019 will be imposed shortly," disclosed a traffic police official, choosing to remain anonymous.

Under the MV 2019 regulations, driving on the wrong side is deemed an offense under Section 184 (dangerous driving) and Section 194D (wrong side on one-way roads).

The initial offense incurs a penalty ranging from ₹500 to ₹1,000 and/or imprisonment for up to six months. For repeat violations, fines escalate to ₹10,000, with potential imprisonment of up to 2 years and license suspension. Repeat offenders may also have their vehicles impounded.

In the meantime, the Gurugram Traffic Police have issued fines totaling ₹10.28 crore against 1.46 lakh traffic violators from January to November this year for wrong-side driving, according to police reports.
