New Delhi, Feb 24 (NationPress) BJP MP Anurag Thakur fiercely criticized AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and his party, accusing them of dodging accountability regarding the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports that have highlighted financial irregularities during the AAP's administration.
In a statement to the media, Thakur remarked, “The individual whose political journey began with a CAG report is Arvind Kejriwal, and the party involved is the Aam Aadmi Party. He has continuously eluded his obligations, failing to provide answers to both the public and the media. Even with the release of the CAG report, he sidestepped the issue in the Assembly.”
“Now, the public has turned against him, defeated him, and removed him from power. It is now our responsibility for the Bharatiya Janata Party's elected government to present that CAG report to the Assembly,” he further stated.
Thakur's comments arrive as the Delhi Assembly's first session is set to occur, lasting three days from February 24-27.
As per the Assembly bulletin, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena will address the House on February 25, after which the CAG reports are expected to be presented.
These reports, especially one concerning the excise policy, have been embroiled in controversy due to accusations of financial mismanagement under the AAP-led administration.
Vijender Gupta, the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly, indicated that the Delhi Cabinet had sanctioned the three-day session to deliberate on significant matters, including the CAG reports.
Gupta confirmed that these reports, which have been received in the office of the Speaker of the outgoing Assembly, will be the primary focus of the new government's agenda.
The reports are anticipated to unveil failures in the previous administration's financial management, revealing a substantial loss exceeding Rs 2,026 crore due to discrepancies in the Delhi excise policy. With the BJP now at the helm, the CAG's findings will likely be a focal point in the forthcoming legislative session.
