With a serious bullet wound to his head, Sarkar was immediately transported to Malda Medical College and Hospital where he is currently receiving medical attention. However, according to members of his party, his condition remains critically unstable.
Witnesses reported to law enforcement that while Sarkar stood at a busy intersection, three individuals wearing helmets arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire.
The assailants discharged a total of three shots. The first two shots missed their mark, but the third struck Sarkar in the head.
