Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Ministers Honor the Legacy of Former PM Manmohan Singh

Lucknow/Raipur, Dec 27 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, along with the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Arun Sao, expressed their deep sorrow on Friday as they joined the nation in honoring the memory of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who unfortunately left us on Thursday night.
In an interview with IANS, Keshav Prasad Maurya remarked, “The entire nation is in mourning over the loss of Dr Manmohan Singh. He devoted his life to the service of our country. Emerging from a modest background, he overcame numerous challenges. His departure is an immense loss for the entire nation.”
Reflecting on Dr Singh’s remarkable contributions, Arun Sao added, “He dedicated his life to advancing the nation. As a financial advisor, he initiated several programs that have greatly benefited our country. His tenure as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Finance Minister, and Prime Minister for a decade was marked by significant contributions. I extend my heartfelt tribute to him.”
The government of Chhattisgarh has declared a period of seven days of state mourning, during which the national flag will be displayed at half-mast on all government properties and other locations in the state until January 1, 2025. No entertainment or cultural programs will be held during this time.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Modi, conveying his deep sadness, acknowledged Dr. Singh’s substantial contributions to the growth of India. “The vision and integrity displayed by Dr Manmohan Singh as a leader will always be remembered in India’s history,” he expressed.
Dr Singh, who held the office of Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, is well-known for his pivotal role in the economic liberalization of India during the 1990s. His intellectual acumen and composed nature earned him immense respect, both domestically and internationally.
The nation is now in mourning for one of its most esteemed leaders, whose legacy will continue to shape India's ascent as a global economic power.
