Odisha FC Enhances Their Team by Signing Brazilian Striker Dorielton Gomes

Rourkela, Dec 26 (NationPress) Odisha FC has significantly enhanced their attacking capabilities with the addition of experienced Brazilian striker Dorielton Gomes Nascimento, widely known as Dori. The 33-year-old forward has joined the Kalinga Warriors on a contract that will last until the conclusion of the current season, including an option for a one-year extension. Dori’s presence is regarded as a crucial enhancement for Odisha FC as they work to strengthen their campaign in the Indian Super League (ISL).

Dori’s notable career commenced at Fluminense FC in Brazil, where he was part of the squad that reached the finals of the Copa Libertadores in 2008. Throughout his career, he has broadened his horizons by competing in various leagues across Asia, where he has established himself as a reliable goal-scorer.

The forward earned substantial acclaim in Bangladesh, playing key roles for Dhaka Abahani and Bashundhara Kings. While with Dhaka Abahani, Dori secured the Federation Cup and Independence Cup during the 2021–22 season and led the team to a runners-up finish in the Bangladesh Premier League. His tenure with Bashundhara Kings was equally successful, guiding the team to consecutive Bangladesh Premier League championships in 2022–23 and 2023–24. Furthermore, he played a pivotal role in back-to-back Independence Cup victories and a third-place finish in the Federation Cup during the 2022–23 season.

Dori has previously competed against Odisha FC in the AFC Cup 2023–24 while representing Bashundhara Kings. In that match, the Brazilian demonstrated his scoring ability by netting two goals in a thrilling 3–2 win in Dhaka. Dori’s talent for scoring is widely acknowledged, as he recently earned the Golden Boot in the Super League Kerala 2024, scoring an impressive eight goals in just 11 matches. His knack for delivering crucial goals in critical moments makes him a valuable addition to Odisha’s squad.

Head coach Sergio Lobera expressed confidence in Dori’s abilities, emphasizing the forward’s extensive experience and goal-scoring history. “A player we know well from facing him in the AFC Cup, he is a goalscorer, and he has scored many goals for all the teams he has been with. He possesses a wealth of experience, and I believe he can significantly aid us,” Lobera stated in a club announcement on Thursday.
