In a tribute, a helicopter scattered flower petals over the life-sized statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at the venue.
“Although a law was enacted in 1923 to grant access to public water bodies for everyone, some segments of society hindered its execution. The Chavdar Tale Satyagraha represented a revolutionary turning point against such injustice,” the Chief Minister remarked.
He emphasized that this struggle was directed at dismantling systems of inequality and untouchability, ultimately ensuring that all public water resources across India are accessible to every citizen.
Additionally, the Chief Minister referred to global initiatives aimed at preserving Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy in places like London and Japan, and mentioned ongoing efforts to establish a Chair in his honor at the London School of Economics.
He also announced the construction of a ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’ in Bodh Gaya to support pilgrims and scholars alike.
The Chief Minister handed over government job appointment letters to 98 legal heirs of SC/ST community victims who lost their lives due to atrocities, describing this initiative by the Social Justice Department as a pioneering effort in the country.
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale proposed the establishment of a world-class ‘Bhimsrushti’ memorial in Mahad to motivate future generations.
Minister for Employment Guarantee Scheme Bharat Gogawale committed to completing the development projects by the end of the centenary year, aiming to provide modern amenities for the numerous followers who visit annually.
