Delhi LG Orders Police Investigation into Sandeep Dikshit’s Claims of Surveillance, Report Required in Three Days

New Delhi, Dec 28 (NationPress) Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has instructed the city's police commissioner to investigate the surveillance claims made by Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit and provide a comprehensive report within three days.
Dikshit, a former Member of Parliament and a prospective candidate for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, has accused Intelligence personnel from the Punjab government of making multiple visits to his residence and parking their vehicles outside his home.
“This is regarding a representation received from Sandeep Dikshit, a former MP and candidate of the Indian National Congress for the upcoming Delhi Vidhan Sabha Elections, 2025. He has raised serious concerns regarding Intelligence personnel from the Punjab government allegedly visiting his residence and parking their vehicles outside his house,” stated the LG’s office in an official release.
Dikshit further asserted that these actions were being orchestrated at the behest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He suggested that this could be an attempt to intimidate and discourage him from engaging in the electoral process.
Taking note of the situation, the LG highlighted the necessity of ensuring a fair democratic environment, especially with the upcoming elections.
"The Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor has recognized the severity of the allegations. Given the approaching Vidhan Sabha elections, it is crucial that prospective candidates are not subjected to any form of intimidation or coercion that could impede their participation in the democratic process," the statement further emphasized.
The LG has ordered the police commissioner to carry out a thorough investigation into the allegations and present a detailed report within three days to his office.
Sandeep Dikshit has been nominated against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency for the forthcoming Assembly elections expected to take place early next year. He had met Delhi LG Saxena on Thursday.
The Congress leader had also urged the Delhi LG to instruct the registration of a cheating case against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi concerning the ‘fraudulent scheme’ of ‘Mahila Samman Yojana’.
