Patna, April 18 (NationPress) In a significant move to enhance women's empowerment in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the 'Mahila Samvad' campaign on Friday.
This statewide initiative is designed to reach out to and educate over 2 crore women about critical government programs aimed at their social and economic advancement.
CM Nitish commenced the campaign by sending off 50 promotional vehicles from his official residence, 1 Anne Marg, in Patna. These vehicles are set to journey throughout the state, raising awareness and fostering discussions, especially in rural and isolated regions.
Attending the launch were Bihar's Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar, and senior state officials.
On the inaugural day, 600 Mahila Samvad programs will take place statewide, and over the next 60 days, the campaign will extend to 70,000 locations throughout Bihar. At least 600 dedicated promotional vehicles will ensure extensive outreach in rural areas, with the involvement of more than 1.35 lakh Jeevika group women.
Within Patna district alone, 1,395 events are scheduled, with 1,200 sessions planned for both morning and evening. This initiative aims to inform women about various schemes, including the Women Empowerment Policy 2015, Liquor Prohibition Policy, Women Reservation and Representation, Dowry System Eradication, Child Marriage Prohibition, Mukhya Mantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, Chhatra Poshak Yojana, Jeevika Scheme, and others.
The goal of the campaign is to educate, motivate, and connect women with the resources and opportunities provided by state-run programs.
Neeraj Kumar, JD(U) MLC and party spokesperson, commended the CM's initiatives, stating: "Nitish Kumar serves as a role model for achieving 50 percent women's reservation. Bihar is not just a follower state; it is a leader in women's empowerment. 'Mahila Samvad' represents another significant step in empowering millions of women to be aware, confident, and self-sufficient."
