Washington, March 26 (NationPress) The United States is ramping up its initiatives to safeguard the Strait of Hormuz and ensure the stability of global oil supplies as military actions against Iran persist. The White House has indicated that these efforts are centered on defending energy routes crucial to the global economy.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt informed the press that US military forces are targeting Iran’s capacity to jeopardize shipping within this strategic waterway, a key conduit for global energy resources.

“Our military is also intensely focused on neutralizing the regime’s threat to the uninterrupted flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz,” Leavitt stated.

In line with these objectives, US forces have conducted strikes on Iranian military installations along the strait's coastline.

“Recently, we deployed several 5,000-pound bombs on an underground site utilized for storing equipment such as anti-ship cruise missiles and mobile missile launchers,” Leavitt explained.

The White House asserted that the broader military campaign has considerably weakened Iran’s naval capabilities, claiming the destruction of over 140 naval vessels, including mine layers that could obstruct shipping routes.

Leavitt emphasized that these operations aim to guarantee safe transit for commercial vessels.

“With each day, our military efforts are becoming more effective, steadily reducing Iran’s capacity to intimidate merchant ships,” she noted.

However, she admitted there is no defined timeline for when normal tanker traffic through the strait will be completely restored.

“I can’t provide a specific timeline today… but it’s certainly something the administration is striving to expedite,” she remarked.

In addition to military actions, the administration is implementing strategies to stabilize global energy markets and mitigate price fluctuations.

Leavitt mentioned that the US is employing financial and policy measures to support oil supplies, including offering affordable political risk insurance for tankers and granting waivers to alleviate supply constraints.

Moreover, Washington is collaborating with international partners to release additional oil reserves and has initiated steps to increase domestic fuel availability.

These initiatives include a temporary waiver for expanded gasoline sales and adjustments in fuel blending requirements to enhance supply.

The White House stated that the administration is working “closely” across various agencies to maintain stable oil prices amid the conflict, which has raised alarms about potential disruptions to global supply chains.

Leavitt reiterated that ensuring energy stability remains a primary goal alongside military objectives.

“The administration is continually devising innovative solutions to keep oil prices steady,” she affirmed.

The Strait of Hormuz, positioned between Iran and Oman, is one of the globe’s most vital energy chokepoints, overseeing a substantial portion of international oil and gas shipments. Any disturbances in the strait can lead to immediate repercussions for global markets, including major importers like India.
