Hyderabad, Dec 25 (NationPress) Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on Thursday honored the memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. Governor Varma participated in the garlanding ceremony at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Park, located in Secunderabad. Following this, he offered floral tributes at Lok Bhavan, marking the day as Good Governance Day.

The Governor emphasized Vajpayee's significant contributions to the nation, referring to him as a visionary leader, an articulate parliamentarian, and a figure who fortified India's democratic principles and national cohesion.

In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer also commemorated Vajpayee on his 101st birth anniversary, recognized as Good Governance Day. He paid floral tributes to Vajpayee's portrait during a ceremony at Durbar Hall in Lok Bhavan.

Governor Nazeer remarked that Vajpayee's life was steered by the principles of good governance, national unity, and a steadfast dedication to the welfare of citizens, asserting that his ideals remain a source of inspiration for future generations.

Andhra Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also honored Vajpayee, highlighting his stature as a statesman and outstanding parliamentarian. He expressed that Vajpayee's ideals continue to guide the nation, particularly on Good Governance Day, as they pay tribute to his visionary leadership, democratic values, and the enduring legacy of principled governance.

Pawan Kalyan shared a video clip of Vajpayee's speech from May 1996 in Parliament, where the former PM stated that while the struggle for power persists, the essence of the country and its democracy must remain eternal.

“Vajpayee's poignant words from his iconic 1996 speech serve as a reminder of our substantial responsibilities in public service towards the nation and its democratic tenets. He instilled in us the belief that while governments may change, the essence of the nation and its democratic legacy must prevail. Vajpayee ji was not just a politician; he was a true statesman, a guiding light of principled leadership from whom all leaders should draw inspiration. Upholding his ideals, I firmly believe that public welfare takes precedence over politics, which is our dharma,” Kalyan articulated.

“In addition to his democratic vision, Atal Bihari Vajpayee asserted India's strategic prowess through the landmark Pokhran nuclear tests, reinforcing national security and self-sufficiency. His initiatives transformed infrastructure with projects like the Golden Quadrilateral and national highways, advanced reforms, and connectivity, proving that decisive leadership combined with humane governance can drive inclusive development and enduring national confidence,” the Deputy CM concluded.
